Do you remember the Travellers Rest Folk Club Macclesfield?

I didn't meet Ian till late on - 2002. He taught me a lot about unaccompanied singing (as did Graham Metcalfe and Ian Giles in your closing photograph, a great memory from the legendary Half Moon sessions). I too have a digitally converted version of that album. Some fabulous tracks there, including great singing from Charley Yarwood. I'd love to see more tracks up here.

My Father was born in Suffolk in 1918 went to work as a farm labourer at the age of 14. Both parents dead by the time he was a teenager. He certainly didn’t want any of us to do that hard labour or live that hard life.

i meant to ask. I'm looking for folk songs that are from or about Suffolk. If you know of any or could point me in the right direction that would be wonderful, please? I'm wondering if any recordings were made at the folk club or any other clubs in Suffolk? Living in the Midlands now, but the Suffolk folk music does give me a little taste of home. thanks.

love hearing Suffolk folk again. went to the ipswich folk club for many years during the late 70s and early 80s. I've not heard folk music like it since, much the shame. agree with your comments about Raydon I'm only 56, but there are parts I've gone back to which look no better for the passing of time.

Great to have the opportunity to hear Ian Woods singing again. I've seen him many times at Folk Clubs around the north-west of England and festivals further afield. Thanks for the upload

these morons say they are good horsemen....what a load of crap !!! I dont see abuse of horses as good horsemanship... these idiots believe that hitting, kicking, punching and forcing horses into a river is acceptable. Some of these horses are knackered by running on hard roads...they even ran one into a parked car breaking the horses neck...took its harness off and left it to die. Lots of these people ( not all ) are scum !!! should be stopped !!!

Met Ian today - wonderful man. Definitely gonna get down to The Half Moon in the next couple of weeks. Heard a lot of good things about it.

Duse anyone know wear Ian is now? I spoke to him a few years ago. He was in Oxford then and talking about retiring in poland. Would love to see him again :-)

Not realy. There just showing off what the horses can do. In harness raceing a Trotter or a Passer has to be able to sustain 30-35mph to be worthy of the name. You wouldnt wana buy 1 that didnt make the grade, It is a horse sale after all.

Hi Thasnks for your coments. I checkt out some of your vids. Some realy good stuff. Cant beleve you got that lovely boy from beeston! How long ago x how old was he? Wear are you from? The yard looks famillier. Im in Warrington, I stable my horses in Culcheth.

I've bought 3 horses from Beeston and didn't/haven't had any problems with them whatsoever! Some horses are unwanted and some are in there for a genuine reason and for a quick sale eg. livery debts etc. First i bought was a 3 year old section C which had amazing bloodlines! Second was a 16.2 Chesnut gelding which i sadly lost due to an accident in his stable & lastly my boy now who i have no and he's my horse of a lifetime, county level shown & done hickstead !
